Jack Keller, Veteran of 2 Wars, Dies at 85

Active member of Freehold Township Senior Center.

Jack A. Keller, 85, of Freehold Township passed away at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township on Friday, November 8, 2013. Jack was born in Newark and resided in Freehold Township for the last 26 years. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Jack was a Master Sergeant in the New Jersey National Guard and worked for the State of New Jersey in supply operations at the West Orange Armory. He was an active member at the Freehold Twp. Senior Center and an usher at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. Jack also played bocce ball at Silvermead Community Club and was a member of their bowling league. 

Jack was predeceased by his wife, Inez Keller in January 2013. He is survived by three daughters, Joanne Riker and her husband, John of Forked River, Janice Trapanese and her husband, Joseph of Charleston, SC and Joyce Thompson and her husband, Richard of Port Monmouth; seven grandchildren, Michele, Joseph, Maureen, Jeanine, Rick, Jennifer and Kelly; fifteen great grandchildren; and a brother, Lawrence “Larry” Keller of Bayville. 

Visiting at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.  Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township for his 11:00 AM Funeral Mass.  Interment will full military honors will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle NJ Veteran’s Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jack may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA, 02241-7005.
