Obituary: Anthony P. Pagliaro

Pagliaro was a U.S. Navy Veteran who moved to Freehold in 1969.

Anthony P. “Tony” Pagliaro, 86, of Freehold Township died while at CentraState Medical Center on Thursday, Sept. 20. Pagliaro was born and raised in Conshohocken, PA and had lived in Philadelphia, Plymouth Meeting, and Boston, MA before settling to Freehold Twp. in 1969.

Pagliaro received his Bachelor’s Degree from Villanova University and his Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Hospital and Nursing Home Administration from George Washington University. Pagliaro was a U.S. Navy Veteran during World War II, serving in the European Theater. He was the Owner and Administrator of Summit Nursing Home, Lakewood retiring in 1986. Pagliaro was a parishioner of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church and was a fellow and founding member of the American College of Healthcare Administrators. He was also a member of the American Hospital Association and The Society of Licensed Nursing Home Administrators of New Jersey.

Pagliaro was predeceased by two brothers, Adam and Carmen. He is survived by his wife, Jean; a son, Anthony Pagliaro and his wife, Lisa of Broadlands, VA; a daughter, Mary Giunta and her husband, Robert of Reading, MA; five grandchildren, Sophia, Dylan, Charlie, Danny, and Eva; a sister, Mary Caruso of Ambler, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church for his 10 a.m. Funeral Mass. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Pagliaro may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
