Obituary: Carmen Rivello, 75

Rivello was a US Navy Veteran and involved Freehold Township resident.

Carmen J. Rivello, 75, of Freehold Township died on Thursday, Sept. 20, at his residence. Rivello was born in Perth Amboy and lived there until 1960, moving to Freehold Township in 1965.

Rivello began a career with Allstate Insurance in Freehold Township 44 years ago as an Insurance agent, and recently retired as the agency owner. He was a charter member, past distinguished president, and three-time optimist of the year of the Sunrise Optimist Club of Freehold. Rivello was a charter member of the Monmouth Battleground Chorus, Barbershop Singing Society and a three-time barber shopper of the year. Rivello was also a member of Freehold Elks, and a member of Knob Hill Country Club for the past seven years. He served as the Chairman of the Sunrise Optimist Golf Outing for many years and was involved with many other charities. The Freehold Township committee honored him by proclaiming Carmen J. Rivello Day on March 20. He was also a US Navy Veteran.

Rivello was predeceased by wife, Susan Kinler in 1990. He is survived by his loving companion of 20 years, Joan Fausak of Freehold Township; two sons, Scott B. Rivello and his wife Marianne of Bernardsville, NJ and Frank A. Rivello and his fiancée, Theresa Clark of Valley Forge, PA; one daughter, Robin Rivello-Yodice and her husband, Michael of Jamesburg, NJ; one sister, Phyllis R. Edwards and her husband, Bill of Perth Amboy, NJ; four grandchildren, Susan Rivello, Jessica Rivello, Scott Rivello and James Rivello; one niece, Allison English; one nephew, Craig Edwards; and a former spouse, Patricia Rivello and her five children, Wendy, Kelly, Thomas, Scott and Todd.

Visiting will be at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, on Sunday, Sept. 23, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. and 6p.m. until 9 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 24 for the procession to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, for Rivello’s 10 a.m. Funeral Mass. Entombment to follow in Maplewood Cemetery & Mausoleum.
