Obituary: Charles Adornetto, 92

Charles was a Veteran of WWII, honorably serving in the US Army Air Corps with the 10th Airforce attached to the 51 Fighter Group and deployed to Burma and India as a support group for the Flying Tigers.

Charles Adornetto, 92, of Colts Neck passed away on Sunday, June 3 at The Manor in Freehold. He was born and raised in Newark, after marriage lived in Scotch Plains for 42 years and Freehold for 15 years before moving to Colts Neck eight years ago.

Charles was a Veteran of WWII, honorably serving in the US Army Air Corps with the 10th Airforce attached to the 51 Fighter Group and deployed to Burma and India as a support group for the Flying Tigers.

He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and American Theater Campaign medals. After the war, he spent most of his career as a machine operator for Micro Stamping Company located in Maplewood, NJ.

After his retirement he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family. Charles was also a life time member of the VFW Post 4374 in Freehold and a 3rd Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Westfield, NJ.

Charles was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Anna Adornetto and his brother Joseph and sister Lucille. He lost his beloved wife of 64 years, Angelina Adornetto February, 2011. He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law - Joseph and Josette Adornetto, and Charles Jr. and Karen Adornetto; his dear sister - Josephine Magaldo; his cherished grandchildren - Michael, Victoria and her husband Jason, Thomas, Richard and his wife Bryana, Lauren and her husband Derek and his two great-grandchildren - Fiona and Ryan. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive their relatives and friends at Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Highway 79, Morganville on Friday, June 8 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at , 549 County Road 520, Marlboro on Saturday, June 9 at 10 a.m. An Interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth, NJ. Online condolences can be made through www.waittfh.com.
