Obituary: Charles M. Sullivan, 76

Sullivan was a member of the Optimist Club of Freehold, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold and a volunteer for the Sanctuary Program in Freehold.

Charles M. Sullivan, 76, of Freehold died on Sunday, May 20 at his residence. 

Sullivan was born in Philadelphia and had lived in Belmar before moving to Surrey Downs in 1994.  He was a sales associate for Stolt-Nielsen Co. in Perth Amboy and also as a credit counselor for Garden State Credit Counseling in Freehold Township.

Sullivan was a US Army veteran having served in Germany. He was a member of the , a member of the and a volunteer for the in Freehold. Sullivan loved to Garden and had a passion for cooking.

Surviving is his loving companion of 23 years, Brenda J. Fitzgerald; a daughter, Maureen Steinbock; a son, Christopher Sullivan; three stepchildren, William Fitzgerald and his wife, Cheryl, Kelley Santangelo and her husband, Michael and Deborah Stine and her husband, Robert; seven grandchildren, Zachary, Emma, Michael, R.J., Jennifer, Sean and Dylan; and three sisters, Peg Heineman, Kathleen Connelly and her husband, Jack and Anne McCabe and her husband, Bob.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the with the Rev. Cindy Bowman, officiating. Cremation will be private.
