Obituary: Cornelius L. Boyle, 86

Boyle served in the Army and Navy.

Cornelius L. Boyle, 86, of Freehold died Nov. 18, 2011 at home. Boyle was born in Kearny.

He served in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served from 1942 to 1946 and the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne Division, 187 Airborne Regimental Combat Team from 1947 to 1952. He was the recipient of Master Parachute Wings, the Glider Badge, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He retired with a total of 26 years of military service. After his retirement from the military, Boyle was a civilian employee in the Defense Department.

Boyle was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Brattan Boyle; a son and daughter-in-law, Walter H. and Teresa M. Boyle, Freehold; two grandsons, Jeffrey Boyle and his wife, Kelly, and Christian W. Boyle and his wife, Justine; three great-grandchildren, Marc, Zoe, and Christian C. Boyle; and two nieces, Joan Burch and Dolores Dorish.

Visiting will be held at the , 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at , Freehold on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donation to Meridian Hospice, Suite 3A, 340A Campus Parkway, Neptune, NJ 07753 would be appreciated by the family.
