Obituary: Donald E. "Rusty" Megill, 85

Megill was a World War II veteran who worked as a weaver at A & M Karagheusian Rug Mill.

Donald E. “Rusty” Megill, 85, of Freehold Township, died Monday, Nov. 21 at Wedgwood Gardens, Freehold Township. He was born in Neptune and lived in Manalapan before moving to Freehold Township in 1976. Rusty was a weaver at A & M Karagheusian Rug Mill in Freehold for over 17 years. Most recently, he was a courier for the Freehold Regional High School District, retiring in 2003. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #54 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4374, both of Freehold. Megill also was a member of the Silvermead Community Club. He was well known for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Doris A. Eckdahl Megill, of Freehold Township; a sister, Vera Conover, of Wall Township; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting at the , 100 Elton-Adelphia Road in Freehold Township, on Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Friday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. William Frederickson, officiating. Interment will follow in Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Megill’s memory to the Freehold First Aid & Rescue Squad, 18 Spring Street, Freehold, NJ 07728.
