Obituary: Dr. Cheryl A. Sandor–Birnbaum, 51

Services for Birnbaum will begin on Friday, Jan. 11.

Dr. Cheryl A. Sandor–Birnbaum, 51, of Freehold, died suddenly on Friday, Jan. 4, at CentraState Medical Center. Birnbaum was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado but was a lifelong Freehold resident.

Birnbaum was a 1979 graduate of Freehold Township High School. After high school, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Muhlenberg College with a degree in chemistry and natural science, and received her DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where she was awarded the Quintessence Restorative Award and was a member of the National Dental Honor Society Omicron Kappa Upsilon. She is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and was also a member and advocate of the Hope Lutheran Church, serving in the choir and chimes choir.

Birnbaum is predeceased by her in-laws, Irvin and Roslyn Birnbaum. She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and her husband of twenty-five years, Brad; their son, Bradley Birnbaum, Jr., a student at Drexel University; their daughter, Nicolette Birnbaum, a Senior at Colts Neck High School with plans to major in music education; her father, Dr. Louis Sandor, Jr. and her mother, Sandra; two brothers, Louis Sandor, III and his wife, Eileen of Millstone Township and Dr. Barry Sandor and his wife, Patricia of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Stefanie Shiblaq and her husband, Waleed of Columbus, Ohio; her nieces and nephews, Louis IV, Joseph, Olivia, Matthew, Erin, C.J., and Kamila; her paternal grandmother, Pearl Sandor of Roebling; her aunts, Patricia Sandor of Roebling and Louise Burkhardt and her husband, Brant of Roebling; her uncle, Gerald Sandor of Roebling; and her aunt and uncle-in-law with whom she had a special relationship, Manny and Anabell Lindenbaum of Jackson; and her cousins, Karen, Keith and Scott and their families.

Gathering will be at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her 11 a.m. Funeral Service on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Hope Lutheran Church. For those who desire, memorial contributions in memory of Birnbaum may be made to Hope Lutheran Church.
