Obituary: Elwood “Tom” Thompson, Jr., 75

Thompson was a real-estate agent for the Berg Agency, Freehold and was the owner and operator of Junior's Gas and Service Station, Cream Ridge.

Elwood “Tom” Thompson, Jr., 75, of Sophia, NC died on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Hospice Home at High Point, High Point, NC. 

Elwood was born, raised and had lived in Jackson, NJ until moving to Archdale, NC in 1985 and then settled in Sophia, NC. He attended Lakewood High School and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. 

Elwood retired as an Automotive Technician Specialist for Davis Chevrolet, Lexington, NC. Prior to that, he was a real-estate agent for the Berg Agency, Freehold and was the owner and operator of Junior’s Gas and Service Station, Cream Ridge.  Elwood was a former member of the Jackson Twp. Planning Board.

He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Durell Thompson in 2007.  Elwood is survived by his two daughters, Wendy Ann Hall and Tamara K. Jarvis both of Michigan; his grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Stanley L. Thompson of Newport, TN; two sisters, Mildred Trimmer of Jackson and Joyce Conk and her husband, Edwin of Freehold Twp.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting at the will be on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 2-4:00 and 7-9:00 p.m.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 11:00 a.m. funeral service at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 with the Rev. Sylvia Masi officiating. Interment to follow in Harmony Cemetery, Jackson. 

For those who desire memorial contributions in memory of Elwood may be made to the Siloam United Methodist Church, 67 Siloam Road, Freehold Twp., NJ 07728.
