Obituary: John W. Foley, 85

Foley died at CentraState Medical Center on Thursday, Feb. 23.

John W. Foley, of Freehold died at on Thursday, Feb. 23.

Foley was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ before moving to Surry Downs, Freehold 15 years ago. He was employed for the City of Bayonne in the maintenance department, prior to that Foley was employed for J & L Steel in Bayonne. Foley was a member of the V.F.W Post #226 and the American Legion Post #165 both of Bayonne. He was a Parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Farmingdale. Foley was a US Navy veteran serving during WWII. 

He was predeceased by seven brothers and one sister.  Surviving is his wife, Eleanor Foley of Freehold; two sons, John Foley of Manalapan and James Foley of Aberdeen; a daughter, Diane Damato of Bayville; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister Eleanor Trojanowski of Old Bridge.

Visiting at the , 200 Elton-Adelphia Rd. Freehold Township on Sunday, Feb. 26 from 1-5 p.m.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Rite of Committal at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 27 at 8:00 p.m. followed by his 9:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Chapel, Main Street, Farmingdale, NJ. Interment will follow at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
