Obituary: Joseph A. DeRosa, 84, of Freehold

DeRosa was a chef at NYC's famous Tavern on the Green, now closed.

Joseph A. DeRosa, 84, of Freehold passed away at Regency Park Nursing Center on Wednesday, June 25, 2014.  Joe was born and raised in Staten Island and had lived in Mariner’s Harbor prior to settling in Silvermead.   After serving in the U.S. Army in Korea, and he was a chef at Tavern on the Green, Bay Terrace, Staten Island. 

Joe was predeceased by his wife, Jean M. DeRosa in 2010.  He is survived by his children, Nicholas Marcario of Greentown, PA, Mark Marcario of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph DeRosa of Boca Raton, FL, Laura Marcario of Moreno Valley, CA and Theresa Rutledge of Staten Island, NY; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a sister, Dolly DeRosa of Staten Island, NY.

Visitation will be held at Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (Route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.  Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 9:00 AM for the procession to his 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at  St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township.  Interment will follow at Brigadier General Wm.
