Obituary: Melvin Boysen, 82

A private viewing was held for Melvin Boysen on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Melvin Boysen, 82, of Freehold Township died on Thursday, Oct. 4 at CentraState Medical Center. Boysen was born in Old Bridge and had lived in the Cheesequake/Matawan area before moving to Freehold Township in 1975. He was a pipefitter for the Local 009 Central Jersey BTS Steam Fitters Union for 54 years retiring in 1991. Melvin was a member of the US Trotting Association and Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey.

Boysen is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean A. Boysen of Freehold Township; one son, Mel Boysen and his wife, Lori of Freehold Township; one daughter, Karen Skok and her husband, Kevin “Wally” of Freehold Township; four grandchildren, Erin, Jamie, Ryan and Shawn; four great grandchildren, Amanda, Skylar, Gary and Brayden; and one sister, Nancy Pelyak of Jackson.
