Obituary: William J. Holohan, 76

William J. Holohan was a veteran, husband, father and grandfather.

William "Bill" J. Holohan, 76, of Freehold Township, died Saturday, Oct. 15 at CentraState Medical Center. Holohan was born in Manhattan and lived in the Bronx, Astoria, and Matawan before moving to Freehold Township in 1973. He retired from the U.S. Army as a lieutenant colonel after serving for over 25 years on active duty and in the reserves. Holohan also worked for the Girl Scouts of America as the director of purchasing for over 30 years until his retirement. 

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Holohan; twin daughters, Kim Saniscalchi and her husband, John, of Howell, and Tracy Ziemba and her husband, Edward, of Barnegat; a son, William P. Holohan and his wife, Karen, of Barnegat; and six grandchildren, John, Christopher, Eddie, Ryan, Jaclyn, and Carly.

Visiting at the , 100 Elton-Adelphia Road in Freehold Township, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the rite of committal at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at a time to be announced, followed by his funeral Mass at , 100 North Main Street in Marlboro. Entombment will follow in St. Gabriel’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Bill may be made to CentraState Healthcare Foundation, 916 Route 33, Suite 6, Freehold, NJ, 07728.
