Sheriff's Office Arrests 46 in Monmouth Warrant, Fugitive Sweep

Operation conducted to decrease violent crimes in Asbury Park, Neptune Township and the surrounding areas.

The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office conducted a warrant and fugitive sweep, apprehending 46 people in and around Asbury Park and Neptune Township.

The operation, which took place from July 18 through July 20, was held in an effort to decrease violent crimes in Asbury Park, Neptune Township and the surrounding areas, a news release from the Sheriff’s Office said.

Of the 46 arrests, seven were detained on criminal fugitive warrants for failure to appear on charges that included drugs, weapons, robbery and assault.

"All of the law enforcement officers involved in the success of this operation should be commended for a job well done," Sheriff Shaun Golden said in the release. "They surveilled the areas and tracked down suspects. That kind of commitment and dedication will help ensure public safety in our communities."

Nineteen were arrested for non-payment of child support.

Approximately $489,000 was owed by those apprehended. The courts determined the amount they were to pay, a news release said. Municipal court warrants were also served where 17 people were arrested.

Additionally, nine were arrested for distribution and/or possession of narcotics.

"This type of operation is vital to the areas hit hardest with violent crimes, and continues our efforts to capture and convict those responsible for these acts," Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said in the release.

The operation was led by the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the US Marshals N.Y. N.J. Regional Fugitive Task Force, members of law enforcement from Asbury Park, Neptune Township and Neptune City, the FBI and New Jersey State Parole.
