Man Killed in Jackson Mills Road Crash

Three cars involved in fatal Freehold Township accident.

A three-car accident on Jackson Mills Road Tuesday afternoon killed one man and left two people injured.

Ronald Girard was travelling northbound on Jackson Mills Road in a Chevy van when he collided with Lexus sedan driven by Jackson resident Rona Stein at 2:09 p.m., according to a press release issued by Lt. Dean Smith of the Freehold Township Police Department.

Stein was travelling southbound on Jackson Mills Road near Tree Top Circle when her vehicle appeared to have crossed over the center line and crashed into Girard, according to Smith.

Girard's van then veered into the southbound lane and hit Wei Oiu's Toyota pickup head-on, Smith said in the release.

Girard was pronounced dead at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark at 2:41 p.m. Stein and Oiu were transported to CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township and released.

Freehold Township police, the Freehold Township Independent Fire Company and Howell's Adelphia Fire Company responded to the accident scene, with MONOC Paramedics and MONOC Basic Life Support Units providing first aid.

A section of Jackson Mills Road was closed at Georgia Road following the accident as Freehold Township police, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and the Monmouth County Serious Collision and Reconstruction Team investigated, Smith said.
