April 1 Arrest, No Joke for Freehold Resident

Resident faces three charges after he allegedly failed to stop for a Freehold Borough Police Officer and attempted to flee from him in his car and on foot.

A Freehold Borough Police Officer was not playing an April Fool's Day joke when he arrested and charged a Freehold resident who allegedly attempted to flee from him.

Marlon Butts, 63, of Hudson Street, was charged with failing to stop for an officer, fleeing from an officer and operating a motor vehicle in a hazardous way. According to Butts’ complaint warrant, he purposely failed to stop his car for an officer who was signaling him to stop. 

Butts allegedly attempted to flee from the officer, his complaint warrant states that he operated his car in a way that created a substantial risk of death or injury to the public. The complaint warrant further explains that Butts had outstanding arrest warrants from various jurisdictions. He allegedly attempted to flee in his car and on foot in order to prevent his arrest.

Butts has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $60,000 bail.
