Artwork Stolen from Hance Boulevard Home

Lynn Reich's sculpted letter "R" was taken from her front porch early on the Fourth of July.

Lynn Reich wants to foster an appreciation of art in Freehold Borough. When Reich a member of the Freehold Borough Arts Council and Freehold Borough Educational Foundation, acquired a 75-pound sculpted letter “R,” she displayed it on her front porch for the community to enjoy.

A thief must have appreciated the artwork a little too much because the 4.5-foot tall structure disappeared from Reich’s Hance Boulevard property in the early hours of Independence Day.

“This is an unusual piece. It doesn’t have market value, just sentimental value,” Reich said.

She noted that the letter was part of a larger art installation and estimated the materials used to create the piece to be worth $400.

“It would have required at least two people to move it,” Reich said. “I’m disturbed someone trespassed on my property.”
