Borough Resident Faces 12 Drug Charges

A Freehold Borough resident allegedly sold drugs three times in two weeks to an undercover detective from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office arrested a Freehold Borough man and charged him with four different drug charges, resulting in a total of 12 counts.

Gustavo Lopez, 31, of Clinton Street, allegedly sold drugs to an undercover detective on Aug. 31, Sept. 1, and Sept. 14. Detective J. Goncalves of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office was the arresting officer. Each alleged drug transaction came with four charges including possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, distribution of a controlled dangerous substance, and distribution of a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school zone.

According to the complaint warrants, the controlled dangerous substance in each arrest was believed to be cocaine. The warrant also states that the school zone Lopez was near during each arrest was the St. Rose of Lima Elementary School.

Lopez has been remanded to the on $400,000 bail, with no option of 10%, for all 12 counts.
