Cause of Thanksgiving Day Fire Still Under Investigation

An Institute Street blaze left a Freehold Borough family homeless on the holiday.

The cause of the that displaced a family on Thanksgiving has not yet been determined, according Monmouth County Deputy Fire Marshal Kevin Stout.

The fire remains under investigation, Stout said.

Some 65 firefighters responded to the blaze at 30 Institute St. at 1 p.m. on Nov. 24, according to Freehold Borough Fire Chief Ryan Bailey. A general alarm was issued to the four companies that comprise the . Additional responding units included , Adelphia Fire Company, , and Freehold First Aid and Rescue Squad, according to Bailey.

“Upon arrival, there was heavy fire showing. There were no injuries but the house is uninhabitable,” Bailey said.

The chief said no one was in the residence at the time of the fire, and he was unsure of the number of household members. The Red Cross found shelter for the family after the blaze, Bailey said.
