Duo Indicted On Weapon Possession Charges

A Freehold resident and an Asbury Park resident were indicted on multiple charges including weapon possession.

A Monmouth County grand jury voted to indict a Freehold man and an Asbury Park man on a total of six charges after a January incident.

Abdul King, 18, of Manchester Court in Freehold, and Jarel Morris, 20, of Langford Street in Asbury Park, were indicted on Thursday, Sept. 6. According to their indictments, the duo allegedly possessed a handgun, and committed an aggravated assault.

The indictment states that on Jan. 11, both King and Morris allegedly possessed a handgun without a permit. For that alleged action, both men face a charge of unlawful weapon possession, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

The indictment further explains that on Jan. 11 both men allegedly attempted to harm someone in Asbury Park with a handgun.

These alleged actions resulted in a charge of aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault by pointing a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
