FBPD Respond to Early Morning Assault

A Freehold resident was allegedly assaulted at approximately 1:04 a.m. Monday morning.

Freehold Borough Police were called to the intersection of South Street and Throckmorton Street after a Freehold resident was allegedly assaulted.

According to Borough Police, the call came in at approximately 1:04 a.m. Monday morning. It was originally believed that the victim was assaulted by as many as four assailants, however after further discussion with Police, Freehold Borough Lt. Michael Sweetman explained that one person committed the assault.

The victim was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune to be treated for his injuries. Sweetman confirmed that the victim signed himself out after arriving at the hospital.

The incident is still currently under investigation by Freehold Borough Police.
