Fire at Freehold High School Cleared

Local fire departments were sent to Freehold High School Friday afternoon.

On Friday afternoon local and neighboring fire departments rushed to in response to an alarm.

According to Chief Ryan Bailey, an initial alarm originally came in at 2:44 p.m. Upon arrival at the High School, smoke was found indoors and a fire was located on the second-story roof in the Roberstville Road entrance of the school. A second alarm was issued at 2:50 p.m. calling on neighboring fire departments to assist with the call.

"We asked for help from neighboring departments because of the excessive heat. There is only a certain amount of time a fire fighter can stay in their gear in this kind of heat," explained Bailey.

"Our fire departments in Freehold Borough and in surrounding communities helped in excess despite the heat and did a fantastic job," said Bailey. "Since last week's storm we have been quite busy and I really appreciate all the local support we have recieved from our neighboring departments."
