Five Arrested In Connection With Gun Incident At Gridiron Classic
Three were charged with possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Five people were arrested Thursday after one of the suspects brandished a gun at the All-Star Gridiron Classic at Toms River High School North, police said.
Three of the suspects were charged with possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose: Jonathan Marvine, 19, of Parlin; Terrence Bowles, 18, of Long Branch; and Shawn Barber, 21, Long Branch.
Also arrested were Kadeem McCullers, 19, of Long Branch, and a 16-year-old Long Branch juvenile.
Barber, Bowles and Marvine were held in the Ocean County Jail on $50,000 bail with no 10 percent option.
On Thursday, Toms River police officers responded to a report that a man at the Gridiron Classic was armed with a gun, and then brandished it after a brief confrontation with some other people at the end of the game.

Numerous Toms River police officers stopped two vehicles Thursday as they left the Toms River North game, and then arrested the five suspects.
Police recovered a loaded Smith and Wesson .380 handgun in the vehicle.

During the investigation, the 16-year-old male juvenile attempted to grab one of the officer’s holstered weapons, but was quickly restrained and was later placed in the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center.
The juvenile is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and attempt to disarm a law enforcement officer.
