Freehold Borough Fire Dept. Responds to 3-Car Fire

The department extinguished the fire at Beacon Scrap Metal Co. and no one was hurt.

The responded to a 3 car fire at on Throckmorton St. on Thursday afternoon.

“We got dispatched around 11:40 this morning. Three cars were burning and it had spread to a pile of scrap metal,” said Dan Megill, the assistant chief of Freehold Fire Department.

According to Megill, the fire started while workers were scrapping cars in the yard. The department was able to control the fire within a half-hour. One hour after arriving on the scene, the fire was out.

Although the cause of the fire was not determined, Megill said the department ruled that it was not suspicious. No one was hurt in the fire.
