Freehold Man Jailed On Robbery, Gun Charges

Charges stem from an incident in Asbury Park on Friday

A Freehold man is jailed on robbery and gun charges following an arrest in Asbury Park last week, according to an arrest warrant.

William D. Casrell, 27, of Fords Ave., was arrested and charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for an illegal purpose and resisting arrest stemming from an attempted robbery on Friday, according to the warrant.

Casrell pointed a gun at an unidentified victim and demanded money and then fled when officers tried to arrest him, the warrant says.

Casrell was taken to Momouth County  jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of $375,000 cash bail. Jail records say he was still being held Monday afternoon.
