Freehold Man Killed In Howell Crash

Police say Mark J. Chilton, a rear-seat passenger, died in a single car crash Friday night.

A 21-year-old Freehold man was killed late Friday night in a single car collision that also injured two Howell residents, police said.

Mark J. Chilton, 21, died at the scene of the crash around 11:30 p.m. on Fort Plains Road in Howell when the car he was riding in left the road, flipped and hit some trees, according to a release from the Howell Police Department.

Jacob P. Cannizzaro, 22, of Howell, was the driver of the car, a 2005 Chevy Cobalt. Also in the car was Angel J. Capasso, 22, also of Howell, in the front passenger seat. Chilton was a rear-seat passenger. Cannizzaro and Capasso sustained minor injuries in the crash, police said.

Cannizzaro took a sharp corner on Fort Plains Road and lost control of the car, which overturned and struck some trees, police said.

Howell Police, MONOC Paramedics, SCART, Howell First Aid and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office responded, police said.
