Freehold Resident Charged with Identity Theft

Monmouth County Grand Jury hands down indictments.

A Monmouth County grand jury voted to indict Beatriz Vega, 27, of Freehold on one count of third degree impersonation, theft of identity.

Between Sept. 1, 2009 and Aug. 1, 2012 Vega is charged with "obtaining personal identifying information," of a person in Howell, Freehold Township and Freehold Borough.

The indictment states that Vega committed the crime, "for the purpose of obtaining or attempting to obtain a pecuniary benefit of a value in excess of $500 or services, or avoid the payment of debt or other legal obligation or avoid prosecution for a crime by using the name of the other person."

She is also charged with one count of third degree uttering a simulated document for having a Social Security card or permanent resident card that did not belong to her.
