Freehold Resident Faces Drug Possession, Distribution Charges

Charges include possession with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a school.

The Freehold Borough Police Department arrested a local resident who now faces a long list of drug charges including possession and intent to distribute.

Issach E. Powell Jr., 27, of Barkalow Avenue was arrested on or about October 30 and was found have a controlled dangerous substance in his possession. Officers found seven green pills stamped “S 90 3” in a ziplock bag. Court documents said the pills were believed to be Xanax and said Powell did not have a prescription for the pills.

Powell is also being charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. At the time of his arrest he was found to have 110 folded wax paper bags that were stamped with stars and containing a powdery substance. Police identified the substance as possibly being heroin. The packets were wrapped in bundles of 10 at the time.

The Freehold Police Department also charged Powell with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute after he was found with what court documents described as “a knotted plastic bag containing an off-white soap rock like substance broken down into many small pieces.” It was believed by officers that the substance was crack cocaine and that there were small ziplock bags that the smaller pieces could have been put in. He was also found with three small ziplock bags  on a white powdery substance identified as cocaine.

Powell is also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a school zone. The school was identified in court documents as St. Rose of Lima
