Freehold Township Opens Two Reception Centers for Residents

The following alert was issued from Freehold Township's Office of Emergency Management around 1:30 p.m.

Freehold Township is opening two reception centers for anyone wishing to evacuate due to the storm. The center locations will be the Freehold Township Municipal Court room at 1 Municipal Plaza (behind town hall and adjacent to the police department) and the Silvermead development clubhouse. Only Silvermead residents should report to their clubhouse and all other township residents should report to the municipal court.

All people seeking to evacuate will be bused to county shelters at either Monmouth University in West Long Branch or Brisbane Child Treatment Center in Wall. People will not be sheltered in Freehold Township.
Anyone with medical needs should consider evacuating at this time. Your first option should be with family or friends who have a generator and the shelter should be a last option. Both county shelters are suitable for medical needs residents.

Residents must be at the reception center No later than 3 p.m. to allow enough time to be registered. Buses will depart the reception center at 3:30 p.m. There will be no buses available after 4 p.m. Anyone who did not evacuate by that time will be required to shelter in place until the storm has passed and it is again safe to travel.

After the final bus departs there will be no further opportunity to evacuate residents until the storm has passed.

Remember that your first option should be to shelter with family and friends and shelters should be used by those with no other alternative or experiencing medical needs.
