Freehold Township Police Blotter: Citizen Calls Lead to DWI Arrests

Arrests and incidents in Freehold Township from March 1 through March 7.

The Freehold Township Police Department reported the following arrests for Tuesday, March 1 through Monday, March 7: 10 for contempt of court and 10 for shoplifting.

Other Notable Arrests and Incidents

  • Caren Halprin, 46, of Howell, was arrested on Tuesday, March 1 on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Police received several calls reporting a vehicle operating in a dangerous manner. Police Officer Stephen D’Antonio stopped Halprin’s vehicle at the intersection of Monmouth Rd. and Elton Adelphia Rd. at 12:42 p.m. In addition to the DWI charge, Halprin was cited for reckless and careless driving.
  • Bianca Averbach, 19, of Freehold Township, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated on Wednesday, March 2. Police responded to a first aid call at 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of Route 9 and Throckmorton St. after Averbach’s vehicle collided with several street signs. Averbach was taken to CentraState Medical Center for treatment. In addition to the DWI charge, Averbach was cited for underage drinking. Police Officer Patrick Cruse made the arrest.
  • On Saturday, March 5, Haysam Arafa, 33, of Marlboro was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Police received calls reporting an aggressive driver and at 11 p.m. located Arafa’s vehicle in the Home Depot parking lot. Lt. Lawrence Loos was the arresting officer.

The Freehold Township Police Department has reported a total of 4,943 service calls from Jan. 1 to March 15.
