Freehold Township Police Blotter: Victoria's Secret Reports Theft of $1,280 Worth of Panties

Arrests and incidents in Freehold Township from Feb. 24 through Feb. 28.

The Freehold Township Police Department reported the following arrests for Thursday, Feb. 24 through Monday, Feb. 28: nine for contempt of court and five for shoplifting.

Notable Arrests and Incidents
  • On Friday, Feb. 25, the Freehold Township Water Department reported $4,000 worth of brass and brass components stolen from their facility at 68 Jackson Mills Rd.
  • Susan Schatzle, 42, of Colts Neck, was arrested on a shoplifting charge on Feb. 25 at noon. Schatzle, the wife of Colts Neck Mayor James Schatzle, is accused of stealing four handbags and one wallet valued at $1,305 from Lord & Taylor in Freehold Raceway Mall. Police officer Scott DeLuca processed the complaint.
  • Khalil Johnson, 30, of Newark was arrested on charges of theft, forgery, hindering apprehension and outstanding warrants. Johnson allegedly tried to $367 in counterfeit money for a purchase at Solstice Sunglass Boutique in Freehold Raceway Mall. Police say Johnson provided false information to them, thus hindering his arrest. Johnson was wanted on a forgery charge in Lawrence Township and had outstanding warrants in Manalapan for $2,500 and Newark for $1,000. He was remanded to Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $30,000 bail. Police officer Ralph Donato was the arresting officer with Detective William Holohan assisting.
  • Justin M. Johnson, 27, of Freehold Township, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 1:30 a.m. Johnson’s vehicle struck a utility police on Route 9 North near the Route 33 overpass. Johnson was transported to CentraState Medical Center. Police officer Christopher DeAngelo made the arrest.
  • Julio Cesar Cruz Calvo, 34, of Manchester Court in Freehold Township, while attempting to cross South Street near Moreau Avenue.
  • On Sunday, Feb. 27, employees at Victoria’s Secret in Freehold Raceway Mall reported the theft of 160 cotton panties valued at $1,280.

The department made 3,706 service calls and motor vehicle stops from Jan. 1 to Feb. 24.
