The police department has established an online account to provide text, email notices.

The Freehold Township Police Department and Office of Emergency Management has established an online account on nixle.com to keep residents informed during Hurricane Irene, according to Sgt. Raymond Piccolini, emergency management coordinator for the police department.

The service allows residents to register to receive text and email alerts about the pending storm and other emergency events from local emergency services personnel. Nixle.com is free to use; your cell phone provider's standard text messaging charges may apply.
