FTPD Charge Man with Forgery

A Neptune man is accused of writing a bad check linked to a closed or fraudulent account.

Freehold Township Police arrested a Neptune man after he allegedly forged a check and attempted to put it into check into circulation.

Marqwell Nichols, 21, of 7th Avenue, faces two charges following the incident that occurred on Friday at the TD Bank on West Main Street. According to the complaint warrant Nichols attempted to pass a check that had a forged name on it. The warrant states that Nichols knew the name on the check was forged.

Nichols is also being charged with uttering a bad check. On the same day, Nichols allegedly attempted to put a check into circulation that was linked to a fraudulent or closed account. The bad check was written in the amount of $750.00.

Nichols was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $5,000 bail.
