Fugitives Arrested in Freehold

Warrants came from as far away as Georgia and Pennsylvania.

Thanks to the work of the Freehold Township and the Freehold Borough Police Departments with the help of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department a number of fugitives were recently arrested and on their way to face their respective days in court.

On or about October 30 Najee U Standard 20, of Asbury Park was arrested in Freehold Township on charges of being a fugitive from justice  with an active warrant out of Clayton County Superior Court in Georgia. The warrant was for a probation violation stemming from a charge of aggravated assault.

The Freehold Township Police Department also arrested Paul R Mergel, 46 of Port Monmouth on or about October 30 for being a fugitive from justice. Mergel’s charge also stemmed from a warrant out of Georgia. His came from Murray County on a probation violation. The original charges against Mergel were for seven counts of first degree forgery.

Also this week the Freehold Borough Police Department arrested 31-year-old Timothy Harper on charges of being a fugitive from justice. Court documents indicate an outstanding warrant out of Monroe County Pennsylvania for failure to appear for court. The original charge against Harper was Driving While Intoxicated.

Toms River resident John Turner, 48, was also arrested in Freehold Borough for being a fugitive from justice. Turner’s warrant came from Wyoming County Pennsylvania for a charge of fraud by false statement.
