Howell Resident Uninjured During Attempted Burglary

Laptop reported stolen during incident.

A Five Points Road resident was awoken late on the evening of Saturday, Feb. 2 during what is believed to have been an attempted burglary.

Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd of the Howell Police Department reported that at around 11:30 the resident reported hearing a noise in his house while laying in bed and went to investigate. After yelling to scare off the burglar the resident said he saw the door leading to his garage was open.

Dodd said the resident had accidentally left his garage door open that night. Through the open door he could reportedly see a male running toward the road. Officers who responded to the call also saw footprints in the snow near Manfre Ct. where he is believed to have gotten into a car.
