Inmate Accused of PCP Possession

An inmate at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution faces drug charges after allegedly concealing PCP.

An incarcerated Asbury Park man is accused of bringing PCP into a housing area of the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI).

James Witcher, 28, of Sunset Avenue, is being charged with drug possession and concealing a plastic baggie of PCP in the county jail. According to the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, Witcher was brought to the MCCI on Thursday, Sept. 13 after he allegedly failed to pay a fine issued by Wall Township.

Records from the New Jersey Department of Corrections indicate that Witcher was previously convicted of a noncustodial charge of child endangerment in Monmouth County July 2008. Witcher was also convicted on one count of drug distribution in a school zone in March 2009.

Bail on Witcher’s two new drug charges will cost him $20,000 in addition to the $1,196 set on the Wall Township charge.
