Inmate Accused of Possessing Razor Blade

Omar A. Machore-Reaves was arrested in January on attempted murder and weapons charges.

A Long Branch man incarcerated in Monmouth County Correctional Institution on attempted murder charges was allegedly found in possession a razor blade on Sunday, Sept. 18, according to an arrest warrant filed by the Freehold Township Police Department.

Omar A. Machore-Reaves, 24, has been charged with possession of a weapon with an unlawful purpose and an additional $10,000 was added to his bail.

Machore-Reaves was arrested and sent to MCCI in January after a 28-year-old Long Branch man in the buttocks on Jan. 2. The man survived and identified Machore-Reaves as the shooter, according to Long Branch Police Department Detective Sgt. Jeff Pilone. Machore-Reaves’ bail was set at $600,000 for charges stemming from the shooting.

Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Cynthia Scott said the agency could not comment on how Machore-Reaves may have come into possession of the razor blade or how it was discovered because the incident is currently under investigation.
