Long Branch Man Accused of Concealing Knife While in Jail
Justin Taylor was incarcerated at Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold on weapons charges at the time of the incident.
A Long Branch man incarcerated in (MCCI) in Freehold Township on weapons charges is accused of having a folding knife in his possession at the jail.
Justin Taylor, 18, allegedly concealed a knife with a 3.5-inch blade while in custody at the prison on Friday, April 27 and threatened to assault a corrections officer with the weapon, according to an arrest warrant issued Tuesday, May 1.
Taylor was arrested in Neptune Township on Wednesday, April 25 after he allegedly used a knife with a serrated blade to cut open packages to facilitate a shoplifting. He allegedly gave a false name to an officer and had two outstanding warrants at the time of the arrest, according to court documents. Taylor faces two weapons charges and hindering apprehension in connection with the Neptune Township incident. He was remanded to MCCI on $12,000 bail.
