Man Accused of Shoplifting TV from Walmart

Man tried to steal Samsung television with a forged receipt.

arrested a Newark man after allegedly attempting to steal a Samsung television from .

According to the complaint warrant, Juan Marrero, 52, allegedly removed security tags from the television and tried to leave the store using a forged sales receipt without paying the full retail value of over $700.

According to police documents, Marrero is charged with shoplifting, forgery and criminal simulation.

Police arrested Marrero on Saturday, Feb. 25. He did have a prior criminal history and prior warrants for his arrest.

Marrero has been remanded to the . Total bail is set at $25,000.

He is scheduled for a first appearance in court on Feb. 28 at 8 a.m.
