Manalapan Man Accused of Using Stolen Credit Cards at Freehold Businesses

A Manalapan man has been accused of stealing credit cards from a parked car and using them at two Freehold businesses. 

Christopher Cavallo, 32, of Salter Court, faces one charge from 2009 and six charges from 2013. In 2009, Cavallo allegedly attempted to use a forged/fraudulent script to obtain a prescription of oxycodone from the Freehold Shop Rite.

According to Cavallo’s complaint warrant, on Feb. 1 he committed the act of burglary by purposefully entering a parked car and removing a briefcase, cash and other personal affects in excess of $550. Cavallo also allegedly committed the act of credit card theft, by taking four credit cards with the intent of using the cards for purchases.

Cavallo additionally faces three charges of fraudulent use of a credit card after he allegedly used the stolen cards to purchase $87.08 worth of goods at Walgreens on West Main Street in Freehold and $833.66 worth of goods at Walmart in Freehold.

Cavallo was arrested by Freehold Township Police and was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) on $160,000 bail.

According to the New Jersey Department of Corrections, Cavallo has previously served time for controlled dangerous substance, possession and conspiracy charges.
