Monmouth Man Accused of Distributing Child Pornography

Freehold Township police assisted in raid on Robert Wood's apartment.

A Matawan man is accused of distributing child pornography as well as being in possession of drugs with the intent to sell within 1,000 feet of school property.

Robert Wood, 26, was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child in the second degree, one count of endangering the welfare of a child in the fourth degree, and one count of intent to distribute a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, which is a fourth degree crime.

Police say that Wood knowingly possessed and distributed photographs and videos over the internet that depicted a child engaged in a sex act, according to the warrant.

Monmouth County Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Kevin Clark said a social networking site made a referral to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after Wood uploaded images to the site. They alerted the center's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which tipped off the Monmouth County Computer Crimes Task Force.

The Monmouth County task force, which is made up of investigators from the county prosecutor's office, sheriff's office and Freehold Township Police Department, raided Wood's Matawan apartment where they discovered over 50 grams of marijuana separately packaged into ten individual bags, according to Clark.
