New Jersey State Police Report One Dead After Wednesday Evening Crash

A car traveling west on rt. 537 took an unexpected turn into the eastbound lane before striking a tree.

The driver of a car traveling on rt. 537 Wednesday evening was killed after their vehicle hit a tree, confirmed New Jersey State Police. 

According to Sgt. Grossman of the New Jersey State Police, the driver was traveling west on rt. 537 before it veered into the eastbound lane and struck a tree near Blueberry Hill Road in Freehold.

Grossman explained that only one person was in the car at the time of the crash. No other cars were involved in the accident.

At this time it is unknown why the car went into the eastbound lane. The crash is still under investigation. The name of the victim has not been released.
