Inmate At Monmouth County Jail Faces Fugitive Charge

Freehold Township Police charged a Brooklyn man with being a fugitive after it was discovered he had an outstanding warrant in New York.

An inmate at the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI) faces an additional charge after it was discovered that he had an outstanding warrant from the state of New York.

Bashir Gustus, 33, of Brooklyn, is a current inmate at the MCCI. He was charged with being a fugitive on Thursday, Sept. 20 after a computer check revealed that he had an outstanding warrant in New York. According to his complaint warrant, Gustus had an active parole warrant for his arrest that was signed by his parole officer. The parole warrant was issued on March 14 of this year.

Gustus' bail has been set at $100,000.
