Two vehicles were involved in the fatal accident Wednesday night.

Feliciano Colon, 36, of Freehold Borough, was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Route 522 west of Route 9 Wednesday at 8:28 p.m., said Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Marc LeMieux.

Colon was in the backseat of a Honda Accord driven by Shayna Zalcberg, 28, of Coventry, R.I., when she lost control of the car and struck a Honda Pilot driving eastbound on Route 522, LeMieux said. Zalcberg was critically injured in the crash, as was the front seat passenger in the Accord, a 35-year-old male from Freehold Borough whose name has not been released.

The two occupants of the Pilot, both Englishtown residents, were not seriously hurt. The 41-year-old male passenger in the car was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital and subsequently released, Le Mieux said.
