The school day at Freehold Borough High School had just about let out on Wednesday when the Freehold Borough Police Department was called to the school on the report of a bomb threat.
Lt. Michael Sweetman said Officer Sean Healey was the first to respond to the call that came in at 1:38 p.m. The school was then evacuated around 2 p.m. and the building was searched by K-9 units from several agencies including the New Jersey State Police, the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department, the Middletown Police Department, the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department and the New Jersey Transit Police Department.
Sweetman said the search results proved negative and staff members were allowed to return to the building without any further problems.
The incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Det. Rich Schwerthoffer at 732-462-1233 ext. 171.
