Police: Man Fled Waterworks Road Crash

Alejandro Benitez Perez was charged with driving while intoxicated.

A Freehold Borough man is accused of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a Waterworks Road accident in Freehold Township.

Freehold Township police said Alejandro Benitez Perez, 32, of Parker Street, was involved in a minor motor vehicle crash near on Sunday, Sept. 25 at 1:30 a.m. Perez was driving a 1999 Ford Windstar that struck another car, according to police reports. He allegedly fled the scene.

Freehold Township Police Officer Christopher McCormack responded to the incident, and witnesses to the accident directed the officer to where Perez was seen driving.

Perez was arrested and charged with several traffic violations, including driving while intoxicated, unlicensed driving, reckless driving, driving with suspended privileges, failure to report an accident, and leaving the scene of an accident.
