Police: NY Man Smoked Crack in Wegmans Bathroom

Arthur Gancz was arrested and charged with drug possession.

A New York man was arrested at the Manalapan Wegmans, located on Route 9 South, on Dec. 21 for allegedly smoking crack cocaine, according to Manalapan police. 

Wegmans employees contacted police after they saw a man whom they believed to be smoking a controlled dangerous substance in the bathroom of the supermarket. Ptl. Chris Makwinski and Chris Oleksy of the Manalapan Police Department located the man, identified as Arthur Gancz, at Wegmans and they found him to be in possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, according to a police report. 

Gancz, a 60-year-old self-employed man, also had $1,689 in outstanding warrants stemming out of Colts Neck Township. He was turned over to Colts Neck police and lodged in Monmouth County Jail. According to the Monmouth County Sheriffs Office, Gancz is no longer remanded at Monmouth County Jail.
