Police Respond to Fatal Stabbing on Jackson Street

A 44-year-old man was pronounced dead.

Correction: The Jackson Street incident was a fatal stabbing and not a shooting as called in to Freehold Borough police and earlier reported by Patch.

A 44-year-old man was fatally stabbed outside the Rug Mill Deli in Freehold Borough on Friday, according to Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Marc LeMieux.

Freehold Borough police responded to the stabbing, which took place in the Rug Mill Plaza at 20 Jackson Street at approximately 9 p.m. The plaza is one block from the Freehold Borough Police Department building.

The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to in Freehold Township, where he was pronounced dead, LeMieux said.
