The Freehold Borough Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a robbery of the Main Street CVS on Wednesday Morning.

Lt. Michael Sweetman reported the robbery occurred at approximately 9:07 when the suspect entered through a rear door and walked behind the prescription counter. At that time an employee confronted the person who then produced a handgun.

Sweetman said at the time the suspect took an undetermined amount of prescription cough medicine and put it in a blue, nylon draw-string bag before fleeing through the rear door. The suspect is reported to have gone on foot toward Broad Street but was gone by the time officers arrived at the scene.

Along with the Freehold department officers from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit also responded to the scene.

The investigation is being handled by Detective Rich Schwerthoffer. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the detective at 732-462-1233 or call the department’s anonymous tip line at 732-431-0420.
