Possible Tornado Damage In Howell Was Minimal

Residents saw what appeared to be a tornado, but the storm left no visible destruction.

Roads are normal and houses remain intact after what appeared to be a tornado passed through Howell Township Wednesday.

Some residents did not even know there was a tornado warning in effect - let alone a tornado that passed through.

"I just thought we had a lot of wind," says Bill Costner of Manalapan, who was in Howell Wednesday night to visit friends.

Local and nearby residents feared the worst after the storm passed. A local photographer captured the tornado appeared nearby.

"Wednesday night was a freakin' mess," says Phil Oberymeyer of Manalapan, who volunteers in the town's first aid squad and participates in community service. "I was in the Jackson area to visit family. My cousin who's also in first aid there got a ton of calls."

"And I thought I had a ton of calls on my day off," he added. "Seems like Southern Monmouth and Ocean County got hit the hardest, looking where I'm at."
